Be Vewy, Vewy Quiet, I’m Hunting Rabbits or Training Your Roomie for Raiding

Sharing your home with your mother has all these hidden issues. What time should I bathe? Who lets out the cat? How much should I make for dinner because I still have no clue whether she’ll be taking care of herself or eating with us. And I’d throw laundry in here except our clay pipes finally gave up the ghost and laundry isn’t really an option at home anymore *sigh*

But it’s ok, because there’s WoW and gaming, right? Right?!

Since the beginning of January I’ve had to learn out how to cope with a person who likes to talk a lot. My quiet time has been reduced to hiding in the bathtub taking leisurely soaks (thank God prune skin goes away quickly). While I wish killing internet dragons ranked right up there with “quiet time” sadly it’s not been the case, but I’ve looked on it as a challenge: how to train your non-gaming room-mate to STFU!

Minipost: Ears or Charms?

This week, you have the start of the Love is in the Air event and the Darkmoon Faire.

For the Darkmoon Faire quest, Test Your Strength, you collect 250 Grisly Trophies.

For Love is in the Air, you’ll want to collect Lovely Charms

Which become Lovely Charm Bracelets for your favorite faction leader(s).

As it stands now, you can only collect one type of trophy at a time. If you are on the Test Your Strength quest, collecting ugly ears will take precedent over Lovely Charms.

If you want to make sure you can finish the daily quests for Love is in the Air, and get your Trophies done for the Faire, make sure that you finish up all your trophies in one fell swoop so you can start collecting charms!

**Update**

You cannot get trophies and charms from the same mob. However, if you do not apply the killing blow (i.e. you’re in a group) you may still receive charms.

10-Man Healing Team | Heroic Yor’sahj

This is not intended as a comprehensive example of all viable healing solutions for this encounter. These strategies were utilized by the Production Company healing team, and hopefully, will provide a starting point for starting a discussion about your healing model for the encounter!

Yor’sahj the Unsleeping is an early healing/DPS check for your team. While we’re not as concerned with kill priority in terms of making sure we’re running in the right direction, knowing what combinations you get will help you plan your healing strategy appropriately. For this encounter, we utilized 1 tank and 2 healers, although this may vary based on your raid composition.

Furtive Father Winter Guest Post: An Ode to Leveling Alts

This year, Ababeko of Red Cow Rise hosted the Blog Azeroth Furtive Father Winter event, a secret santa guest posting event. Effy of Effraeti’s RP gifted me with this amazing guest post. Enjoy!

Happy Holidays to everyone, and especially to Windsoar, the recipient of this special Furtive Father Winter Event guest blog!  Also a big Thank You! to Red Cow of Red Cow Rise for organizing the FFW Event and to Blog Azeroth our home away from our blogs and the meeting place of minds to come up with all these wonderful events to keep us motivated.

For those of you who may not be familiar, I am Effy.  I write the blog Effraeti’s RP, which is a conglomeration of short stories, transmogging ideas, roleplaying thoughts, raiding adventures and any other thing that I come up with – usually relating to World of Warcraft, but not always.

I had to do some serious research on Jaded Alt to try and determine someplace where we might overlap in subject matter until I finally circled back to the obvious.  As you might hazard to guess from the title “Jaded Alt,” Windsoar has her very own collection of alts on WoW.

Bingo!  I have lots of alts too!

After reading her post Making a Buck While Leveling Alt No. 2349, I tried her technique myself.  I quickly realized that a heavy schedule of questing and collecting to level did not quite work for me.  (And selling everything?!  *gasp!*  How can I be a packrat without numerous bankalts loaded down with low level mats and gear I will probably never use??)  ><

Windsoar’s idea was great.  I just really wish I could level an alt and actually MAKE money that way, rather than barely breaking even.  Small jaunts of questing are about all I can manage, which probably sounds weird since I am such a lore geek.

So in a sister post to Windsoar’s, here is an Effy guide to leveling alts.  This technique has earned me entirely too many toons over the past six months or so and now it can for you too!

Minipost: A New Guide Page

I’ve done a lot of addon related guides, suggestions, and UI updates since I’ve been writing at Jaded Alt. I noticed a couple of weeks ago that I still hadn’t gotten around to updating all my categories and tags since I’ve made the jump back to wordpress.com, and instead of taking the time to do that, I just added a page with a handy link to all my addon related posts. Fancy, huh?

I also thought I’d mention that although I spontaneously do a guide now and again, most of my UI related instructional guides have been requests from readers, so if there’s an addon that you’d like me to tackle, feel free to ask!

10-Man Healing Team | Beth’tilac

This is not intended as a comprehensive example of all viable healing solutions for this encounter. These strategies were utilized by the Production Company healing team, and hopefully, will provide a starting point for your team’s healing model discussion  for the encounter!

This fight isn’t all that healer-centric, but it does require your healing team to be really good at healing all the thingz…. uhhh… raidmates. The fight is split into two phases, with the first phase being the lighter of the two in terms of healing output. Do your best to conserve mana during this phase so that Phase 2 will be a breeze.

10-Man Healing Team | Baleroc

This is not intended as a comprehensive example of all viable healing solutions for this encounter. These strategies were utilized by the Production Company healing team, and hopefully, will provide a starting point for starting a discussion about your healing model for the encounter!

The biggest issue with Baleroc is getting enough healers with a high enough stack of vital spark to keep your tank(s) alive. In this fight, it’s important to stay on assignment, and to keep the rest of the healing team informed of any issues or changes. In early attempts, we utilized two tanks, and many teams report this was easier for them. However, in preparation for heroic, we did switch to a one-tank model, and that is the set-up I will be using in this discussion.

You Met Them Where?

I remember the first time I told someone I met my then fiancée and now spouse on-line. Their face went through this weird metamorphosis as they tried to hide their built-in distrust of an icky stranger with their trust in my judgement and happiness over my new attachment. If it hadn’t been so disheartening, it would have been comical. Over the years, I’ve become used to the awkward pauses and baffled looks as people try to process the information after they ask me how I met my beau.

However, it’s horribly confusing to me that I get the same responses from many of my on-line friends and acquaintences. Many people still maintain a fierce dichotomy in their real-life and on-line relationships, and find the absence of those same divisions in others as something wrong. I think those folks are missing out on an opportunity to enrich their lives with love and laughter in relationships that never took the next step–whether in friendship or romance! So today I wanted to look at some of the myths surrounding on-line relationships and hopefully convince some folks that even if it’s not for you, those of us who’ve been successfully running that gamut for years are not bat-shit crazy.
